Honeywell and Rebuilding Together Long Island HELP Renovate
HOME FOR DISABLED WEST BABYLON, NY RESIDENT
A disabled West Babylon man’s home
is safer and more comfortable these days after Honeywell’s
Employee Club and Rebuilding Together Long Island partnered
on a two-day remodeling effort last week. Volunteers contributed
numerous hours in labor to build a wheelchair ramp from
scratch and install new sheetrock in the kitchen. The
elderly resident, who has cerebral palsy, found it difficult
to maneuver the steps of his home.
“These upgrades were necessary for this gentleman to enter and exit his
home safely and independently,” said Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell
Security & Communications. "There's a large need out there, with residents
all over Long Island learning to live with their physical limitations. We are
proud to work with Rebuilding Together to help them do that."
This renovation project is the fifth in a series of ongoing
efforts with Rebuilding Together Long Island. For
the past 16 years, Rebuilding Together Long Island has restored
more than 1,500 homes and built over 100 wheelchair ramps
for low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled or single-parent
families. Honeywell supports many Rebuilding Together projects
throughout the United States, including other recent efforts
in New York. With more than 450 employees based in the area,
Honeywell plans to work on additional renovation projects
in the future. |
